Engineering roles
As a member of our software development team you will make a difference. You will directly impact product design, have control over how you attack a particular problem, and have direct exposure to customers, witnessing how your product make a difference in their lives. VMware Platform Integration engineers
Virsto's technology has been designed from the ground up to run on multiple hypervisors, and we'll soon deliver solutions for VMware. Joining a compact team of highly experienced software developers, you will design and develop integration of the Virsto platform into VMware ESX and vCenter. Your work will be highly visible and mission critical to the project and the company.
Requirements:
- Development experience with VMware vCenter SDK and/or vSphere SDK
- Proficiency with C# and/or Java
- Experience with Web services
- UI development experience
Ideal candidates will posses:
- Experience with OVF based virtual machine packaging
- Experience with Adobe Flex
- Working knowledge of WMI and MMC
Preferable candidates will have:
- vCenter Update Manager experience
- Linux kernel patching and rpm knowledge
- Proficiency in C/C++ and multi-threaded programming
XenServer Platform Integration engineers
The Virsto IO engine has run, in our lab, on Xen for longer than on any other hypervisor. Want to help us take this out of the lab and deliver it as a product? You will be responsible for designing and developing integration of the Virsto platform with XenServer and XenCenter. Your expertise will help guide our talented team toward innovative storage solutions for Xen-based virtualization.
Requirements:
- Development experience with XenCenter and XenServer
- Proficiency with C#, Java, and/or Python
- Experience with Web services
- UI development experience
Ideal candidates will posses:
- Experience with OVF based virtual machine packaging
- Linux kernel patching and rpm knowledge
- Working knowledge of WMI and MMC
- Proficiency with C and C++
Preferable candidates will have:
- Multi-threaded programming proficiency
Core IO engineers

Requirements:
- System level experience with modern operating systems, specifically in high-performance I/O subsystems, file systems and disk IO
- Understanding of IO architectures, interconnects, and protocols - one or more of SCSI/iSCSI/SAS, SATA, Fibre Channel, NFS, CIFS
- Multi-platform software development experience with Windows and Linux
- Proficiency with C, C++ and multi-threaded programming
Ideal candidates will have:
- Familiarity with server virtualization, specifically Hyper-V, Xen, and VMware
- Knowledge of hypervisor kernel programming in ESX, Xen, and Hyper-V
- Experience in networking and distributed systems programming
Preferable candidates will have:
- Familiarity with WMI, MMC, C#
- Experience with Linux FUSE
Support engineer
Working with a talented team of software developers and QA professionals, you will identify, diagnose, and resolve customer issues. You will create our customer technical support processes, and ultimately be leader in our growing technical support organization. Because of the insights you gain working with customers, you will provide valuable input into our highly customer focused software development team.
Requirements:
- A customer enthusiast with a passion for delivering a fantastic support experience
- Motivated to go the extra mile, creating customer evangelists
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced in troubleshooting networking and distributed systems
- Familiarity with Hyper-V, VMware and Xen
- 5 - 10 years system software troubleshooting and support experience
- Windows systems diagnostics and debugging expertise at a level typically found in senior level 2 or level 3 support staff
- Hand on experience supporting and troubleshooting complex software products, specifically in high-performance IO subsystems, file systems and disk IO
- General understanding of modern I/O architectures, interconnects, and protocols (SCSI/iSCSI/SAS, SATA, Fibre Channel, NFS, CIFS)
- Hands on experience with enterprise Windows environment administration
- Familiarity with server virtualization, specifically Hyper-V, VMware, and Xen
Responsibilities:
- Respond to customer inquiries, primarily via email and telephone
- Resolve customer technical issues through diligent research, reproduction of problems, and troubleshooting
- Work directly with staff in quality assurance, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and administration to resolve problems
- Document all technical inquiries, develop and review content for knowledge base
- Mentor and train junior staff as the team grows
- Help test alpha and beta products
- Define/refine support processes and systems

Position Summary
This position will manage all direct and partner sales in the West Coast. Working with a team of System Engineers, Inside Sales Reps, and others, you will identify and bring to closure Virsto's software engagements. Reporting directly to the VP of WW Sales, this position is strategic in building out the team for Virsto in the West Coast. If you are a results-driven sales executive who is used to leading integrated account sales teams to penetrate markets and drive sales in an entrepreneurial environment, please consider joining our team.
Position Responsibilities include
- Manage sales of Virsto’s suite of software, services and maintenance
- Create key account plans and build a robust pipeline to accurately maintain revenue forecasts
- Demonstrate sustained record of sales achievement by developing and leveraging partner relationships
- Influence customers and defuse potential problems by using your knowledge of complex business challenges to identify solutions
- Anticipate customer needs and identify appropriate alternatives and solutions
Position Requirements include
- Previous success at a start-up preferred.
- Background selling IT infrastructure solutions
- Recent and sustained over-quota achievement
- Experience in closing six and seven-figure software deals
- A proven track record of building strong customer relationships and developing solutions for complex client business problems
- Substantial enterprise software selling experience (e.g. storage management, enterprise storage solutions, virtualization, systems management, ERP, CRM, document management, eBusiness and/or eCommerce applications)
- Excellent presentation skills to executives & individual contributors
