Virsto Named “Best of Tech·Ed 2010 Awards Finalist”
Provider of Hypervisor-Based Storage Virtualization Software is Only Startup Selected in Virtualization Category
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – June 2, 2010 – Virsto™ Software, an innovator in storage solutions for virtual servers, today announced that Virsto One™ was named a Finalist in the Best of Tech·Ed 2010 awards program in the virtualization category by Penton Media’s Windows IT Pro and SQL Server Magazine. At the Microsoft Tech·Ed conference, Virsto will be demonstrating Virsto One at booth 2042. Additionally, Virsto will present the BOF session "Hypervisor-based Storage Virtualization" on Thursday, June 10 at 3:15 p.m. in room 354.
“We amended our category choices this year to be more reflective of the products on the market in alignment with Microsoft Tech Ed categories,” said Jason Bovberg, senior editor of Windows IT Pro. “Close to 300 products and services were nominated this year. Narrowing down the list of nominees to 35 finalists, from so many highly qualified products and services, was an exhaustive process for our judging panel. We’re proud of our selections, and we believe our finalists represent the best of the best in their categories. As always, we chose them based on their innovation, strategic importance to the market, competitive advantage and exceptional value to customers.”
The Best of Tech·Ed 2010 awards recognize companies that offer innovative products to the industry. The judging panel reviewed 298 products and services submitted for the contest and chose 35 finalists to be interviewed at the Microsoft Tech·Ed North America 2010 IT pro conference taking place June 7 – 10, 2010, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Winners will be determined at the show, and then announced at an invitation-only evening reception at the Hard Rock Café on June 9. Winners will also be announced on the Tech Ed exhibitor’s floor on June 10 at 1:00 p.m., and will be published online at http://www.windowsitpro.com and http://northamerica.msteched.com.
“We are honored to be named as one of four Best of Tech Ed 2010 award finalists in the virtualization category, the only startup alongside such great companies as VMware, Citrix, and HP,” said Mark Davis, CEO of Virsto. “As pioneers in hypervisor-based storage virtualization, we pride ourselves in delivering solutions that remove the challenges that arise from virtualization and significantly improve the capabilities and performance of storage for Microsoft Hyper-V. This award recognizes our team for its innovation in solving the biggest storage problems in virtualization.”
About Virsto One
Most data storage technologies deployed with virtual servers today were not designed specifically for virtualization, and were built based on assumptions that are true for physical servers, but are false for a virtual data center. Virsto One is designed to increase the agility of storage in virtual environments and help users take advantage of the opportunities native to virtualization. Initially supporting Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V, Virsto One is architected to be storage- and hypervisor-agnostic and enable users to virtualize storage-intensive workloads, maximize consolidation of server and storage hardware, reduce storage management complexity and significantly reduce overall storage costs.
